UCU Law Student Bridget Arikiriza Dies After Tragic Accident

Students of Uganda Christian University are mourning the sudden death of Bridget Arikiriza, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) student whose passing has left friends and coursemates in shock.

Arikiriza, who was set to begin her fourth year in the upcoming May semester, reportedly sustained severe head injuries following a road accident in Kisoga on April 8. She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of the morning.

Her death has triggered an outpouring of grief across the university, with many remembering her as a vibrant, compassionate, and deeply supportive member of the student community.

Her class representative, Harrison Ricard Maganda, described Arikiriza as a shining light among her peers.

“Bridget’s life was a bright beam in our class. Her contagious smile and laughter were shared with the known and unknown. She relentlessly showed up for others—whether it was helping with studies or offering a shoulder during tough times,” he said.

Maganda also recalled her willingness to help others academically, citing an instance where she stepped in to assist his group with a criminal procedure assignment at the last minute.

“She offered to help with the missing parts of our work when we were behind schedule. That was the kind of person she was,” he added.

The General Secretary of the UCU Law Society, Denis Amanya, described her as a devoted reader and a friendly presence on campus.

“She was a bookworm who loved reading in the library. She was every person’s friend and always jolly,” he noted.

A close friend, Rolly Atimango, shared emotional memories of their bond, describing Arikiriza as more than just a friend.

“Our relationship was more than friendship—we were sisters. We shared everything. She was a very jolly soul, full of humor and strong in faith,” Atimango said.

She added that Arikiriza was deeply committed to her faith, often attending church services and gatherings together, and was known for her cheerful

 personality and sense of humor.

Family sources indicate that Arikiriza will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 11, in Kyamuhunga.

Her untimely death has left a deep void within the UCU community, with many pledging to remember her kindness, faith, and unwavering support for others.
