Support the Moment, Not the Rivalry: Dokta Brain Backs Joshua Baraka Amid Industry Criticism

Ugandan producer Dokta Brain has publicly rallied behind rising star Joshua Baraka, calling on fellow artists to put aside criticism and instead support one of the country’s fastest-growing talents.

His remarks follow recent comments by Grenade Official, who questioned Baraka’s international progress. Grenade argued that the young artist still has significant ground to cover before reaching the global stature of established names like Eddy Kenzo.

The criticism escalated further when Grenade suggested that viral internet personality Tenge Tenge is currently more recognizable than Baraka—a statement that sparked swift backlash from fans, many branding it dismissive and disrespectful.

Entering the debate, Dokta Brain struck a firm and unifying tone. He emphasized that this is a defining moment not just for Baraka, but for Uganda’s entire music industry. According to him, internal competition and negativity risk undermining a rare opportunity for global visibility.

He highlighted Baraka’s growing international footprint, noting that the singer is currently outperforming some of East Africa’s biggest names in monthly streaming figures, including Diamond Platnumz and Bien.

“Whatever Joshua is doing, he’s doing it for Uganda. Stop fighting him,” Dokta Brain urged. “And whoever you’re comparing him with, remember you’re older than Joshua. You can only play along—you can never fight the man of the moment.”

His statement underscores a broader call for unity within Uganda’s music scene, as Baraka’s rise increasingly positions him as a key figure in exporting Ugandan sound to the global stage.
