Spice Diana Stresses Importance of Education for Artists
Ugandan singer Spice Diana has underscored the value of education in shaping a successful and independent music career.
While appearing on the Bold Women show on NTV Uganda, the celebrated artist opened up about how she has managed to balance academics with her thriving music journey.
According to Spice Diana, education is a powerful tool that protects artists from exploitation, particularly in an industry where many fall victim to unfair contracts.
“Most of those unfair contracts between artists and managers happen because artists lack knowledge. They can’t read or do proper research,” she explained.
The singer noted that her educational background has enabled her to make informed decisions without fully depending on her management team. She emphasized that knowledge has given her confidence and independence in handling aspects of her career.
“I don’t have to wait for my management to do certain things for me because I’m well informed. I went to school, and it’s a beautiful thing,” she added.

Beyond music, Spice Diana also challenged the traditional definition of a “complete artist,” highlighting the importance of having skills outside the studio. She revealed that she majored in Fashion and Design, a field that continues to influence her brand and artistic expression.
In addition to her music career, she successfully runs two fashion shops, further proving the benefits of diversifying skills.
“This has helped me a lot. I don’t struggle with what to wear for my music videos because I understand fashion—what to wear and when to wear it,” she said.
Her remarks serve as a reminder to upcoming artists that education and talent can go hand in hand, offering both creative and business advantages in the competitive entertainment industry.
