Makerere Students’ TikTok Campaign Secures Maiden Concert for Vinka

What began as a simple TikTok trend has turned into a major breakthrough for fans of Vinka, as Swangz Avenue officially confirmed that the singer will headline her very first concert later this year.

Students’ Plea Turns Into a Movement

A group of determined students from Makerere University, alongside passionate fans, sparked the campaign after expressing frustration that one of Uganda’s most beloved performers had never held a major headline concert.

Led by content creator Vine, the students launched an ambitious petition aiming to collect 2,000 signatures in support of a Vinka concert.

What started as a modest effort quickly gained traction across TikTok and other social media platforms.

Within a short time, the petition surpassed its target, with over 2,000 fans signing on.

The campaign flooded timelines with creative content, persistent pleas, and mounting pressure directed at Swangz Avenue—all centered on one question: When will Vinka finally get her concert?

Swangz Avenue Responds

The fans’ voices did not go unheard.

On Friday morning, Vine and a group of supporters delivered the petition in person to Swangz Avenue offices in Kampala, documenting the moment as they sought a definitive answer.

They got exactly that.

In a major announcement, Vinka confirmed she is ready to take center stage for her maiden concert this year.

“This came from the fans. Swangz will make it happen. We heard them, and we are delivering,” said Benon Mugumbya, head of Swangz Avenue.

An emotional Vinka expressed heartfelt appreciation to her supporters, saying, “This is for all of you who never stopped asking.”

What Happens Next?

While excitement continues to build, Swangz Avenue noted that key details—including the concert date, venue, and full event lineup—will be announced in the coming days.

For now, one thing is clear: a student-led digital movement has successfully turned fan demand into reality, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated concerts in Uganda this year.
