Kadondi Gracious Swearing-In Set for April 15 as Makerere University Ushers in 92nd Guild Leadership
The transition of student leadership at Makerere University is now officially underway, with the swearing-in ceremony of the 92nd Guild leadership scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
According to a formal notice issued by the Office of the Dean of Students and signed by Winifred Kabumbuli, the ceremony will take place at CTF 2 Auditorium
Conference Room starting at 8:00 AM. The communication, dated April 13, 2026, was addressed to all students in line with the Guild Constitution.
The ceremony will officially usher Kadondi Gracious into office as the 92nd Guild President, following her victory in the April 9 elections where she secured 6,801 votes against Hannah Karema Tumukunde who garnered 5,787 votes.
Her swearing-in marks the formal transfer of power and concludes a highly competitive and widely followed guild election season that captured attention both on campus and nationally.
The campaigns were characterized by intense political engagement, high voter turnout, and notable public endorsements from figures like King Saha and Bobi Wine.
With the oath-taking, Kadondi transitions from Guild President-elect to fully mandated student leader, taking charge of one of the most influential student governments in Uganda.
The notice was widely circulated among top university officials, including the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, University Secretary, Academic Registrar, and security leadership—highlighting the institutional weight of the event.
Kadondi campaigned on a platform centered on student welfare, accountability, and political freedom. Key pledges included advocating for increased government allowances, pushing for implementation of the 60 percent tuition policy, introducing subsidised food services on campus, and lobbying for supplementary exams for finalists.
As she assumes office, expectations among students remain high, with many eager to see how quickly campaign promises translate into tangible change.
The swearing-in ceremony at CTF 2 marks the beginning of a new chapter in Makerere’s student leadership, with the campus community closely watching what the 92nd Guild government will deliver.
Campus Pluss will continue to follow student leadership developments across universities.
